The Westchester County USBC Youth Bowlers rolled into Jefferson Valley Lanes on  Sunday, October 26, 2014. The event, Westchester County Junior Bowlers Tour (WCJBT) is a series of 6 tournaments throughout the county which allows junior bowlers to compete for scholarship money which will be awarded at the end of the season.

Bowlers compete in separate handicap and scratch division; they bowl 5 games across 10 lanes in the qualifying round and then are cut to the top 40% for match play semi-finals. After the first 2 rounds the top five then compete in a step ladder finals to determine the champions.

As we made the trek up north this time and the turnout seems to be improving and there were a lot of walk-ons. Get your apps in early for the next stop to avoid the rush.

In the scratch division Demetruis Brown Jr rolled a 772 for five games, Robert Cantine Jr. shot 810 and Kelvin Oats bowled a 837 all whom failed to advance to the second round. Joshua Robinson shot a 1143 for 4th place after the qualifying round. In the semi-finals Josh rolled a 265 route to a 1868 for 3rd place after two rounds.

In the finals Josh faced off against Evan Halperin from Cortlandt Lanes. Evan opened with the front nine to roll a 266 and knock off Josh who shot a 224 for a fourth place finish.

In the handicap division Liam Ryan rolled a 949 and Rosana DiPoala shot an 819 both failed to qualify for the second round. David Smalls rolled a 1041 for 6th place and Daron Brown rolled a 1018 for 12th place going into round 2.

In the semi-finals Daron shot a 202 and 1664 overall to finish 8th place after two. While David Smalls won 2 of his 3 matches and rolled a 216 to propel him to 3rd place and the finals with a 1794 after 2 rounds.

In the finals David knocked off Sean Hartman 213 to 200 to move up the ladder. In his second match David was knocked off by Tom Collins, the eventual tournament champion, 212-200 for 3rd place overall.

The next tournament on the schedule is right here at Paradise Lanes on Sunday, November 16th. Hope to see you there!

Reminder:
If you know you are going to miss a week of bowling, you can always pre-bowl for that week. Just arrange a time with the center to come in and bowl (Saturday after bowling is usually a good time). Be sure to write down your scores as a back up. Or if you would rather stay digital, take a pic of your scores and email them scores@cbjb.org or upload them in a message (not a post) to the Facebook page.
